Choice Proof (14: 4,5,5) BN. This is transitional Pattern with the alloy adopted in 1864. This example show very deep mirrors and frosty devices. There is a stain on the reverse which limits the grade. The dies are aligned 180 deg. from typical US coinage, the reverse being upside-down when turned top to bottom. It has spectacular purple toning, which comes from long-term storage in envelopes. This is a very attractive example of this popular Pattern Indian cent. It would work well in a regular issue Proof set.
